The Story along the Ganges

The Kumbh Mela is the largest religious gathering of human beings on the planet. I took these photos out of a boat which I hired to stand just off the shoreline in Varanasi, right off the Main Ghat, which is the seminal spot in the world for Hindus during holy festivals.

There they descend down into the water, and do their ritual bathing as they have done for millenia. It's colorful and exotic and there is nothing quite like it anywhere. It still goes on.
