Himalaya Rhododendron Forest

rhododendron forest

This is a more sunny location. The rhododendron trees are blooming in late spring. Some of the forest look like this, with bright light. Much of the rest of these forests are sunk in a dark gloom that creates mystery and many tales. Leopards also roam these passes and valleys, and occasionally attack humans, especially in early morning or late evening. Locals usually advise not hiking during those times. The attacks are rare, but do occur throughout the Himalayas from Himachal Pradesh in the west to Sikkim in the east. While here I heard of a grass cutter who was harvesting forage for his cow who was attacked, and escaped with a mauling, and another milk man who was attacked and killed.
